  Chair called workshop to order.

Incentives Policy Article I Chapter 20

  Beth Kirkland thanked the Board for this workshop. Forum was held May 12th.

 Commissioner Hinson asked that along with Career Source Capital Region and Gadsden Technical Institute, that Tallahassee Community College be added to the list.

 

Dr. V cautioned the Commissioners on limiting the list.

 

Dr. V suggested using local churches also as a way to inform of available jobs in the county to ensure more of local citizens being trained.

 

Add Construction, Mining and Forestry, Commercial & Industrial Machinery and Equipment Rental and Leasing in the classifications list.

 

Table 20-4.1-Speculative Space and Property: add Property Disposition

 

Taylor said each business that would come to the county would be different and would have to appear before the commissioners, this would be template to go by.  Need some form of point system in place.

 

Commissioner Hinson stepped out at this juncture of the meeting.

 

Lee Garner appeared before the Board.

 

Commissioner Hinson returned at this juncture of the meeting.

 

Chair Holt suggested to come back with 2 options and let Board decide because they could not vote today anyway.

 

Morgan suggested document include verbiage to create environment friendly

 

Taylor mentioned business retention and expansion-hoping door not completely closed with dollars helping existing businesses, such as Quincy Joist or Higdon Furniture to help them be able to keep doors open.

 

Holt in favor of that but should come from another “pot of money”

 

Commissioner Morgan stepped out at this juncture of the meeting.
